My SUAS Contest Layouts

I'm so happy to have participated in this contest! I can really tell a HUGE difference in my own scrapping and this really kickstarted my mojo back into gear. I had really gotten into a scrapping rut and needed some inspiration. So here are my layouts from each week. I will post credits at the end and any journalling that can't be read.

WEEK ONE: Dream of a Love

WEEK TWO: Sleep Sweet

THREE: Song of the South

WEEK FOUR: My Sunshine

WEEK FIVE: In Awe of the Wall

WEEK SIX: I Will Pray

WEEK ONE JOURNALING AND CREDITS:

Mama and Daddy, I dream of a love like yours. I’ve watched you two since I was a child and always wanted for myself what you two have. There are no harsh words to each other even when I knew that there had to be anger and those times were few and far between. I’ve seen the pure joy in each of you when you two are around each other. I’ve seen patience with each other when things are not going well and one of you just needs time to deal with it. I’ve seen faithfulness to each other. I’ve seen kindness in everything that you do for each other. Daddy, you’ve been so committed to working and keeping our family supplied with all our needs and a lot of our wants. Mama, you stayed home til me, Jeff and Robert were in school and then found a job where you could be home when were home. I’ve seen tolerance with each other. Daddy, I know you get frustrated with Mama with the phone stuck to her ear all the time, yet you understand that Mama is so caring and loving that she feels like she has to help all her family and friends through their problems and they flock to her because of it. Mama, I know you get a little frustrated at Daddy for constantly coming home with a new car, or truck, LOL. Yet I see you smile and say nothing. I’ve seen you be hopeful for your children, wishing us the best in life, crying with us when things were bad, and standing by us when times were tough. Mama, you are our comfort. Daddy, you are our rock. I’ve always seen your youthfulness, as a parent and as a grandparent. You were never too tired or busy to play with us as kids or now to do the same with the grandkids. I’ve seen a true partnership, working seamlessly as one, yet still being individuals. But what I’ve seen the most of is LOVE, every day, growing in leaps and bounds. I know you loved each other as teenagers and still love each other today. I see soulmates and I want it for myself. You’ve set the bar high and I know I won’t be content til I find the one great love of my life, like you two. I love you. WEEK TWO JOURNALING AND CREDITS:

It’s 11 o’clock at night and I’m tired and frustrated because you won’t go to sleep. I’m so tired from the long day of work and errands and homework with Britt and Brooke. Worn out from all the little things that I have to do daily to survive and raise you three by myself. Yet you’re up still, bouncing up and down on the couch, running and hiding when I come to lay you back down in your bed. Your bed is so cute, you should want to sleep in it. It has Cinderella ,Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, all your favorite princesses. I lay you down again and go back in the living room to finish up chores or to try to scrap, because late at night is the only time I get to work on my pages. You lay there and cry and holler for a few minutes, but then you get quiet and I see you peeping around the corner. I can’t help but laugh because you’re so cute. We go through this several rounds before I finally give in. You run and jump up into my lap and snuggle your sweet little head up under my chin. You take your chubby little hand and put it on my cheek and reach up and give me a hug and kiss. I ask you “Whose girl are you?” and you sweetly chirp “mama’s” and it just makes my heart melt. We sit there and I rock you for all of 5 minutes before you drift off to sleep. I just sit and hold you for awhile longer because no matter how frustrating, or how busy I am, I’m happy you’re there and sad all at once because it won’t be long before you’ll be too big to rock to sleep and I’ll miss it. I’ll miss my baby growing up and those sweet moments with you. I love you. You are my sweet girl, my Sadie. You won’t be little long and I want to enjoy you as much as I can. I need my rocking time as much as you do.I hope you never forget just how much your Mama loves you. WEEK THREE CREDITS:

This has been one of my favorite challenges so far! I instantly knew what I was going to do the minute I read it. This is my grandfather in the middle of one of my great-grandfather’s cotton fields. He was 19 or 20. This song by Alabama could have been written about my grandparents and great-grandparents. The small picture is of my grandfather and grandmother and the little boy on the tractor is my uncle. WEEK FIVE CREDITS:

Wow, this challenge was tough! But I LOVE this picture of my 11 year old son at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. It was the first time either of us had been at the Wall and I won't ever forget the overwhelming feelings I had and also those of my son. He was so sweet and touched by the experience. He walked the entire length of it, stopping to touch different names and ask questions about why all those names where there. Pretty Girls!

Brooke said when she saw this picture of me, her and Sadie, "Mama, we sure are some pretty girls aren't we?" She does more for my ego than any man ever did. She's always telling me how pretty I am and I tell her and Sadie all the time! This layout was inspired by the Bring It challenge at http://www.zigglescraps.com/ You can get a free template for playing along and also a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to Kami's store. I used the 15 across, 42 down kit by Ziggle Designs. I'm in LOVE with that crossword background paper.

ROCK STAR!

Ok, well maybe not a rock star, but Savanna looked like one on Halloween night, LOL. I used Corina and Kate Hadfield's Fun and Fancy Free Kit from http://www.funkyplaygrounddesigns.com/ and the photo mask in by Jessica Sprague.
